What does your walk with God look like

Joshua 3:1-8, 14-17 Keys to what it means to be a follower of Jesus and a leader of people.

    1. Follow the arc, follow the presence. Then you will know which way to go.

      1. It won’t happen through their own gifts and leadership. It takes following the spirit.

      2. Don’t try and recreate something that’s already been done. God is not about trying to create ANOTHER Bethel or Hillsong. He wants to do something new.

      3. “We need to be a people who jump into the river of God.”

      4. “It’s neat and tidy in the graveyard it's alive and messy in the nursery” - John Wimber

      5. Galatians 5:25 - since we live by the spirit let us keep in step with the spirit

        1. We need to keep in step with the spirit, not taking over after you see where it’s leading.

    2. “Consecrate yourselves”

      1. Purify - surrender to God’s way, not your own.

      2. We have to be willing to set ourselves apart and live a life of holiness and purity.

      3. We aren’t holy because of things you have done. You are holy because of Jesus.

      4. Jesus made the unclean clean. He never shied away from the unclean.

        1. “We have the mind of Christ, wherever we go we can bring about God’s love and life and wholeness.”

        2. “The only way we will see people walk into all that they can be is to fill our minds gaze with the beauty and the wonder of Jesus Christ.”

        3. “Love God and do what you like.” - St. Augustine

      5. We need to be a people of confession.

    3. “Go up to the River Jordan and step into it.” - RISK - OBEDIENCE - COMMITMENT - God is inviting you into a miracle he’s already started.

      1. The river was in flood season, so it was about a mile wide. Which made it a difficult task. AND they were carrying the ark of the covenant

      2. The water upstream stops flowing, but as they step in they are unaware of the miracle that’s happening upstream.

        1. They were obedient - the second step was a step of commitment. The second step is a step of trust.

      3. God is inviting you to commit. He breathes on your commitment.

      4. Stop waiting for the miracle and step out. He’s waiting for YOU.
