Cultivating momentum by learning self-discipline

Without self-discipline we will not be able to sustain what God has called us to.

  • Story: Her beginning years of ministry.
  • “Humility says there is always something to learn.”
  • Maturity says “there’s a need, and I am going to meet it.”
  • “Sometimes we are so distracted by what other people are doing that we don't see the mess we are actually making.”

You won’t always feel motivated so you need to learn self-discipline.

  • When favor hits your life, you have to work harder.
  • We can’t expect other people to manage our life for us.
  • 2 Timothy 1:7

What does self-discipline look like?

  • If you aren’t healthy, how can God send you?
  • “Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what what you want most.” -Abe Lincoln
  • Part of you becoming a godly man or woman is learning to hear the Holy Spirit's voice in all we do.
  • Discipline brings you humiliate joy and fulfillment.
  • Discipline is a learned behavior.

How do we walk in self-discipline?

  • Set yourself up for success ahead a time.
  • Embrace pain.
  • Start with small habits.
  • Set rewards and consequences.
  • See the journey. Not the destination.
