The 5 Types of Prophetic Song

Dan McCollam

00:34:45

Spiritual singing is actually commanded in scripture. It is the overflow of my heart, mind or spirit to the Lord. Coming from me to the LORD.

The 5 Types of Prophetic Song

Dano McCollum

  1. Spiritual songs vs. prophetic songs

    1. Eph 5:20 - Keep on being filled by the spirit.

    2. Spiritual singing is actually commanded in scripture. It is the overflow of my heart, mind or spirit to the Lord. Coming from me to the LORD.

      1. Sing in the spirit (tongues)

      2. Melodies

      3. “I’ll sing with my understanding.” (When we go off the page and sing our own song. By singing in the spirit you put your own vocabulary to the song.)

      4. Spiritual singing is largely private unless you invite people into it.

    1. Prophetic worship is the overflow of His heart, spirit, and mind through a person to a person.

      1. 1 Cor 14

      2. A message or an atmosphere that can be judged or evaluated

  1. 5 types of prophetic worship

    1. Singing a song that already exists with a prophetic intent

      1. You have a picture in your mind of a person or group of people and take the song and encode that song with the intentions of God for those specific people.

    2. Spontaneous Song

      1. This is not the overflow of my heart, it’s the overflow of His heart to a specific person.

      2. It doesn’t even have to be a “Christian” song. Christ has redeemed ALL things.

      3. It has to be encouraging, it has to be a new testament.

    3. Refine written words from the Lord

      1. Prophecy comes as partial information.

      2. God loves stewardship, it’s not how you manage something it’s how you increase something.

      3. Take notes as you pastor is speaking and turn it into a song.

    4. Prophecy on your instrument

      1. Inspiration is like a testimony, but prophecy is creating an atmosphere that can be evaluated.

      2. To prophecy on an instrument is to send a message.
