Q & A
None of us set out to do this. We just grew up in youth and playing worship. We wanted our youth ministry to be something excellent. We get to represent God and His message. So when I step on stage I take that very seriously.
How I get ready for a night: As a drummer part of my role is very supportive of the worship leader. In order to do that with excellence is that you are capable of playing what’s required of you without having to think about it really hard. A big part of the excellence we bring is practice, so when things get changed on the fly it doesn’t throw us off.
What is something practical you can do to reset yourself when you’re mind is wandering during the set?
If I take a look at the lyrics it helps bring me back.
Something that I do is find someone in the crowd who is lost in worship and kind of play over them.
What type of in ears you use?
We use ultimate ears.
How do you balance family time with so much traveling?
Lots of face time. I try and facetime 20 times a day just for a couple minutes here and there. I can’t hold an hour conversation at the end of the day it doesn’t work.
God has graced our spouses and families. It’s not easy, we try and make sure our wives feel like they are a part of it.
How do you build connection with the team?
We just like eachother and we hang out.
